Service Call

“The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked”

Just as my car needs an occasional service call to stay tuned up, so too does my heart.  I pray that God will subtlety remind me to keep my head and heart in alignment.  If what I believe is true in my heart does not align with what I think, say and do, there is a problem.  My car tells me there is a problem with a warning light, a rattle or squeak.  My life tells me there is a problem when relationships are not right.  Am I treating others the way that Jesus does?

It's not complicated.

Like the old AT&T commercial says, "More, more, I want more!" I'm looking for more of these moments in 2014.  I'm not sure what specific steps I will need to take, but I do know that I want more of them.  At the end of the year I know I won't be wishing I spent more time at work, more time hunting, more time on the ball fields, more time in front of the TV...you get it.

They say that it's good to start with the end in mind, so the goal is to be a better husband, a better dad, a better Christ-follower...so let's go, join me on this journey!  They also say that it's good to have accountability when accomplishing goals, so consider yourself deputized as my accountability partner...iron sharpens iron kinda stuff.
